Azaleas put on one of the showiest spring flower displays of any shrub, in a huge range of colors; reblooming (Encore-type) varieties add a second flush in fall. The biggest challenge in Oklahoma is our alkaline clay - azaleas need consistently acidic, well-drained soil, so amend heavily with peat or pine bark and don’t let them dry out.
